Originally from Puerto Rico, I'm an Air Force brat and spent my
growing up years in Puerto Rico, Arizona, Italy, Germany, Mississippi,
and Alabama (in that order). I asked Jesus into my heart in a
children's Sunday School class on a military base in Italy. For the
next fifteen years I attended military, Southern Baptist,
non-denominational, and charismatic churches.
I received a Bachelors in Computer Engineering from Auburn
University. After working in Auburn for a year, I moved to Houston,
Texas, to work for a large computer company. I am now a member of a
large church Southern Baptist church.
Feeling that I had nothing to offer, I slowly became involved in serving in the single adult ministry of my church. I found it a privilege to serve behind the scenes doing such things as handing out announcement sheets, creating PowerPoint presentations, and taking roll. At home, it was my joy to start studying the Bible alone and finding that Jesus is more personal than I ever thought.
In an unexpected turn of events, I began co-teaching a single adult Sunday School class for people of all ages with the single adult minister. Taking a chance on me, he eventually allowed me to teach on my own. The next two and a half years was an emotional roller coaster, the highs being the privilege of leading others in growing in understanding of Scripture with lows of "I don't know what I'm doing!"
I quit teaching to prepare for my marriage to Garrett, the love of my life. We got started on this marriage thing a little later than most, so we love every ordinary moment. Grocery shopping, walks around the neighborhood, the search for an odor-free kitty litter...it's all good.
We share our home with one sweet and increasingly spoiled dog (my fault), two cats with more personality than manners, and a lizard that doesn't have much personality at all.
